Paul Dixon


Paul is currently lecturing to sixth-form students in schools on the Philosophy of Finance, and is also a continuing student at Oxford Conted in philosophy of economics, philosophy of science, moral philosophy and ethics, and philosophy of mind.

In 2020 he graduated with distinction in the Philosophy of the Social Sciences at the LSE. Paul previously worked for thirty years in investment banking and asset management (below).

Professional Career

From 1987 to 2003 Paul traded and managed a wide range of financial and derivative product businesses in both Fixed Income and Equities at MHL/Chemical Bank, and Merrill Lynch. Paul also held senior roles in Global Financial Risk Management and in FinTech.

In 2004 Paul moved to Asset Management, where he managed assets and financial risk for Pearl Assurance and Phoenix Group, large UK and EU life insurance and pensions businesses. His most recent executive position was as Chief Investment Officer at Guardian Assurance where he was responsible for £17 billion of assets.

Paul is currently a non-executive director at Clara-Pensions Group Ltd and a Trustee of the Lazard Directors’ Pension Scheme.
